AIM: AUTOMATED TRAY AND PACK INPUT

The RAX developed input module processes a stream of packs or trays from a conveyor feed, enabling them to be automatically barcode scanned and input into an rBox without manual intervention.

ALOADER: PACK LOADER

This module enables packs to be loaded automatically easily. Equipped with a buffer conveyor of variable length, all the operators have to do is dump the packs onto it for them to be fed into the Loading mechanism. This then singulates and scans each pack and presents them for direct entry into the rBox. The aLoader loads at around 250 packs per hour.

It operates autonomously, meaning that loading can be deferred during the night, freeing up rBox movements to prioritise picking during daytime working hours. Packs with unreadable barcodes are rejected into a separate compartment so that loading is uninterrupted.

APACKLOADER: HIGH PERFORMANCE PACK LOADING

This technology has been developed by RAX to load automatically several rBoxes simultaneously. It loads at up to 1,500 packs per hour.

AFILL : LOADING OF ENVELOPES

Another RAX development. Automating the loading of finished Lens envelopes was a challenge without precedent for our R&D team. The aFill has a capacity of thousands of finished lens envelopes. The technology includes vacuum nozzles to grasp the envelopes, a mechanical arm to singulate them, and a buffer conveyor that they can be input into trays and subsequently into the rBox.

Loading the finished lens envelopes, into the aFill itself only takes a few minutes. The finished lens are taken in bulk out of the shipping boxes and placed directly into the aFill, without any pre-sorting. After having placed the envelopes into trays, the trays are sent to the of the rBox buffer loop and then assigned to a specific rBox. A single aFill module can load up to 5 rBoxes simultaneously, with a speed of 1500 envelopes per hour. All is managed by our RAM software, which assigns the trays to rBoxes depending on predefined criteria. Normally the trays are spread evenly between the available rBoxes to enable maximum speed of output.

ALOCK : AIRLOCK CONTROLLED INPUT AND OUTPUT POINTS

This technology was developed by RAX to enable gas fire extinction systems to be used in the interior of rBoxes. These are required when inflammable items are stored, such as mobile telephone batteries or liquids. The aLock is installed at the rBox point of entry and/or delivery. It has a double air-lock system to ensure that the aperture is instantly and hermetically sealed if the gas extinction system is activated. This prevents toxic gas from leaking out and causing potential harm in case of fire extinction activation. A buffer conveyor is included to accumulate commissioned orders as required.

ABM: AUTOMATION OF BOTTLES AND VIALS

Another RAX developed technology, this module enables automated processing of bottles and vials by automating and commissioning their loading and their output.

Scales are integrated into the aBm, so that the precise quantity of the liquid available is known on loading. By automating these tedious logistics and administration, the aBm enables the creative teams using the liquids to concentrate on their core competences.

ABLISFILL : CONTACT LENS BLISTER SAMPLE LOADER

Another technology developed by RAX, it automates the loading of contact lens blister samples. It loads at up to 1,000 blisters per hour. Each blister is individually identified by an optical scanner, which means that different sizes and forms can be processed.

The optical scanner can also read and record expiry dates, QR codes, strengths…The blister is then individually loaded by a robotic arm into a tray to be conveyored to an rBox.

AFRAMEFILL : FRAME LOADER

The aFramefill is a very similar concept to the aBlisfill. Each frame is identified by the optical scanner, and then individually loaded by a robotic arm into a tray to be conveyored to an rBox and further processing.
